This series looked at the idea of home, and how that is created through the objects we curate and display. It was the beginning of a greater interest in how our objects and collections reflect our personal histories and interior lives.
Viewed often, but not always closely studied, the exploration of these objects in drawings and watercolour enables a close consideration of personal meanings and histories of things.
The reworking of parts of the paintings, is a further exploration of an object or its context, overlaid in the same way these things are frequently viewed. The reworking suggests the paintings will never be finished works, in the manner that things might come and go, or be repositioned at home, changing the way they are seen or used or rediscovered and treasured over time.
